The RED LED readout will display either "Amps" or "Volts" by pressing the small black button in or out.
With no accessories attached or plugged in or cars running on the track. The "Amps" display will show a very low value. Typically less than 0.2 amps or even zero amps. This value will increase as you start to use the cars or add accessories.
With the RED LED display in "Volts" mode, you will see the actual DC voltage output to your track. This will determine the top speed of all of the cars. The higher the voltage, the faster the cars will go. Avoid running the voltage higher than the recommended rating for your slot car. Otherwise, you could cause irrepairable damage. (Not covered by warranty). Usually, 1/32 scale motors are rated around 12VDC.
The red and black output sockets on the power supply, allow you to insert 4mm banana plug leads in any polarity. This means you can have the red plug in the red socket. Or change it into the black socket to reverse the cars direction of travel. (This is applicable to analogue systems only).
